Cupcake calamity

A couple of weeks before Christmas, Sibéal spotted an ad on tv for Girl Gourmet Cupcake maker and was instantly hooked. It was top of her list and no amount of persuasion was going to shift it. Santy duly obliged, it arrived and she was delighted. With all the festivities and travel, it was a few days later before we got to try it out.
What a disappointment it was. This isn’t really a cupcake maker unless you think making a cupcake means hydrating a sachet of mix and microwaving it for 30 seconds. What this “cupcake maker” does is twirl the cupcake whilst the icing is pushed through the funnel. Even this, in our experience didn’t work too well. Some of the results are pictured below.
The kit comes with sachets for 4 cupcakes, frosting and sprinkles so we repeated the process until all were used. The cupcakes were tasted but, yep they tasted as good as they looked, naaaaasty. Awful, none of the kids liked them at all.
This cupcake maker was a waste of money and time. Rubbish. I would recommend buying a basic children’s baking book, some colourful baking cases, basic ingredients, an icing piping bag and accessories instead. It would probably end up much cheaper, result in better tasting, less artifical cupcakes and would definitely be more fun.
