Curiouser and Curiouser

Curious Wines launched recently in Bandon with the opening of their wine warehouse and online store. Hurrah and congrats to all involved. We were pleasantly surprised when we recieved some of their wines to sample and review.
The first one that caught my eye was this Long Neck Sauvignon Blanc. The label design of this bottle is just fabulous. Love the doodled giraffe, each grape variety has its own colour of giraffe and the blended wines have the 2 giraffes on the bottle. Very cute and full marks for grabbing the attention as your eyes scan a wine rack.
This Sauvignon Blanc is full of gooseberries with hints of tropical fruits. It is crisp with good acidity and decent length. Not as pungent nor as expensive as the Marlborough New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs, it will probably suit a wider audience of wine drinkers. Retailing at under €9.50, its good value for money and won’t break the bank for a wine that delivers what it promises.

There are 7 to choose from, all representing fantastic value for money even before discount. If you want to go with South Africa’s specialities, don’t miss out on the Pinotage and the Chenin Blanc. An independent review of the Sauvignon Blanc can be found here. [...]
