Anyone for noodles?

After swimming earlier today, we decided to eat out en famille. Having been to Wagamama in Cork previously and having been very happy with that visit, we decided to return today.
As always the staff were very friendly, attentive and efficient. Its a very family friendly restaurant: colouring pages and crayon to occupy the kids whilst they waited for their food, high chairs and a good kids menu. The restaurant’s benches suit our gang and the atmosphere was good and lively, plenty of people eating and chatting.
The four older children all went for the chicken noodles which was three slices of chicken breast, some noodles, sliced apple, mandarin orange, some salad leaves and a small bowl of amai sauce. To be fair they all enjoyed the noodles and chicken. Some prefering the to leave the sauce, others devouring it all. The eldest was disappointed that there were no kids chopsticks available and that left boring forks!
I chose the ebi chilli men which was prawns, noodles, carrots and peppers in a chilli sauce. It was ok. I didn’t like the big chunks of very al dente green peppers but the rest were fine. Conor opted for duck gyoza and some chilli chicken ramen. He felt the duck was too dry but the rest was fine, nothing too special but nothing objectionable.
For drinks one of the kids had milk, the rest opting for freshly squeezed apple and orange juice. They all loved them. I initially opted for a carrot juice though had to abandon it quickly as I didn’t like the taste of it, there was too much ginger in it for my palate. Instead I went with an apple, orange and passionfruit one as did Conor. These were really good.
The total bill came to approximately €85 without service charge which wasn’t cheap.
Overall, I thought the good service and pleasant surroundings were slightly let down today by the mediocre food. We have come to expect more from our previous visit so it was disappointing. Hopefully this was just a glitch and we were unlucky in our food choices and on the day performance in the kitchen.

Oh that’s a bummer! A pricey one! Try the Teriyaki Steak Soba if you go again. Heaven!

Hey Deborah,
Will definitely try that the next time. Usually tend to to go for fish or chicken when in Wagamama so many thanks for a different recommendation.
