Review of Burt’s Bees Super Shiny Grapefruit and Sugar Beet Shampoo & Conditioner

Posted on | December 23, 2007 | 3 Comments

Expensive and to be honest, nothing spectacular when it came to super shiny performance.

These products sound gorgeous: grapefruit, sugarbeet, coconut and sunflower oils combined with essential orange, lemon and lime oils, I had visions of my tresses being super shiny and me glowing with natural beauty goodness!

They claim to be wonderfully natural, ph balanced, and I’ve no reason to doubt this.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found their washing and conditioning ability to be anything out of the ordinary. I bought them in the local health food shop a few weeks ago. They were priced on the expensive side, the conditioner approximately €11.50 for a 340g bottle. I find their smell a bit off putting, I’m not particularly fond of it. Mind you, that’s subjective as DH has decided he quite likes it.

Overall, I won’t be purchasing these again as I haven’t noticed a substantial improvement in my hair condition nor shine and so can’t justify the cost of them.

I find the same thing all the time with the expensive stuff. I tried Kerastase at the urging of my hairdresser and I looked like I belonged on a halting site! Awful stuff. Have given all the good stuff up – now use some Apple stuff that knocks me back about €1.50 and smells great! Course I did love the Big Sexy Hair brand, but you can’t seem to get it here!

Hope you guys have a wonderful Christmas! I can imagine the fun with all the kids on Christmas morning and with a first Christmas for the baby if I’m not mistaken?! Enjoy yourselves!

    Hey Deborah,
Now that you mention it, I remember a really appley shampoo from years ago, it was bright green in colour and smelt divine. Must go on the look out for it, now you’ve reminded me.

Its baby’s second christmas, mind you, she was only a few weeks old this time last year and will make a much bigger impression this year! Looking forward to hopefully getting some chillout time with the gang over the next few days. It’ll be loud.

Hope you’ve an excellent time! Enjoy and all the best for 2008.
