This Christmas I have been mostly reading…..

I read this autobiography over Christmas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its merely part one and covers broadcaster, producer and media guru Chris Evans’ life till the 1990s, just after his majority shareholding purchase of Virgin radio.

As I currently have the attention span of a goldfish and get constant interruptions whilst reading, its usually difficult to follow the narrative. However the concise chapters and top 10s layout here I found excellent to combat this. His writing style is very easy to follow and enjoy.

The trials and tribulations, from doing a  paper round aged 13, to promotion to newsagent work, getting into Piccadilly radio and on to BBC radio and Channel 4 Tv,  were at times amusing, sad, entertaining and informative. I liked the fact he had no qualms about detailing his mistakes and incidences when his ego took over from his brain ;-)

There is no doubt he is very driven, hardworking and ambitious and by the end of the book I thought him an ultimately likeable, albeit flawed like the rest of us,  person.

Very interesting read, looking forward to reading the next instalment.
